Everything You Need to Know to Pre-Order Your Octopies
The Great Bake Sale to mint Pieland Octopies starts Feb. 10, but we know you’re hungry now. So starting Feb. 4, we will have a three-day window to pre-order Octopies! This will be available to anyone who has the “whitelist” role on our Discord. Pre-Order Perks
Few — if any — NFT projects have a pre-order system that pays for the gas fees to mint NFTs. The Pieland team wants to create a world of Octopies that are accessible to everyone. Many of us are old hats at this, but for the 99.9% of the world that associate “gas fees” to Arco, or minting to paper money, the NFT Ethereum space can be a tough barrier to enter.
(For NFT newbies, here’s a very short recap. NFT stands for non-fungible tokens, so basically they’re like a digital one-of-a-kind collectible. Most NFTs that are currently sold exist on the Ethereum blockchain. There are different kinds of blockchain, like Bitcoin or Dogecoin, that run cryptocurrency on a decentralized network. When a company like Pieland is ready to sell their NFTs, like a juicy Octopie, it needs to get “minted” in order to add the digital file to the blockchain. No one person or organization is in charge of the Ethereum blockchain, so every time an NFT gets sold, “gas fees” are applied to verify the transaction through a massive network of computers.)
Pieland’s pre-order option is one way we can help first-time NFT buyers guarantee an Octopie purchase without dealing with gas fees, which often can be pricier than the cost of an actual NFT. Trying to compete with everyone for a limited number of NFTs at the same time during the public sale can be intimidating and frantic, especially since gas fees dramatically increase as more people attempt to purchase at the same time. Pre-ordering Octopies also offers benefits to our veteran NFT community members — we estimate it will save our Pieland members between 20–35% of their total costs to get a few Octopies.
How Does the Pre-Order Work?
On Feb. 4, we will open the Pieland Pre-Order on Discord and Twitter. The pre-order window will only be available for three days and will close on Feb. 7, so be sure to take advantage during that time. People who are whitelisted will receive a tag on Pieland’s Discord alerting them to fill out the pre-order form. Whitelisted Pieple will also be granted access to a private pre-order chat channel.
The Pieland staff will be available to help with pre-orders via private messages or voice chat during Feb. 4–7, including the use of a ticket system. We want to make sure you feel comfortable with this process — whether it’s your first time minting an NFT or you have other Pieland baking questions — so please check in on this whitelist-only channel.
The pre-order form will ask a few questions - how many Octopies you’d like to purchase (a maximum of five per person), your wallet address that you will use, your Discord ID, etc. We will also need confirmation that you have sent payment for the Octopies you plan to purchase.
The Pieland pre-order form will not ask for your seed phrase, your passwords, or any personal details beyond basic contact information. Please be vigilant of any fake forms that scammers may try to create. If you are unsure, please ping the Pieland staff in the pre-order channel. Only click on the form link from the Pieland Discord server. We will not send you the form through private messages.
You can use any wallet that allows you to send Ethereum to be eligible for the pre-order purchase. Coinbase, Kraken, Metamask, etc. all work! There will be a nominal fee attached to transfer the ETH, around $5-$15 USD. However, we will pay all other gas fees associated with minting the Octopie (for pre-orders only). While you are limited to five Octopies for the pre-order, you are welcome to purchase more during the Great Bake Sale on Feb. 10!
Once you have sent in the Ethereum and filled in the form, you will get an email confirming the given details. If there is anything incorrect or uncertain in those details, we ask you to contact us immediately and we’ll do our best to correct them. However, on February 7th, once the pre-order window has finished, we cannot guarantee we will be able to help resolve an incorrect order amount, wallet address, contact details, etc. Please note though — we will always prioritize making things fair and right for our community members.
The next step for anyone who pre-orders is to relax and eat a slice of your favorite pie! Your reserved Octopies will be minted by our team on February 10th, and arrive in your wallets the same day. There’s still time to earn an opportunity for the Pieland whitelist before pre-orders end on Feb. 7, so check the Pieland Discord and Twitter. The pie’s the limit!

February 4th - Octopie Pre-order opens, minimum order of 3, maximum of 5.
February 4th-7th - The Pieland team opens up a pre-order form. If you want to pre-order, you must send the ETH to the given wallet address and fill out the form during this time window.
February 7th - Pre-orders are closed. The team processes the pre-orders and confirms there are no issues.
February 10th - The public mint (aka the Great Bake Sale) starts. Anyone on the whitelist can mint exclusively for the first few hours, then it opens up for public minting.
