The Octopies of Pieland have stumbled upon a new threat!

The story of Pieland continues on. Our Octopies have travelled around their lands, visited all their Ovens, and mapped out the known world. Now, they venture to dangerous lands to face the powerful and intimidating Pieous.

But, as they stepped a tentacle onto the Pieous islands, they quickly came across a large and scary beast, which could only mean one thing — it was time for the first Pieland Boss Battle!

The 3-headed monstrosity that the Pieous have defending their home.

To read more about the lore aspect of this part of Pieland, you can visit our Wikipiedia here. The rest of this blog will focus on the mechanics of the Compietition.

With that being said, here’s how it works:

An Overview
Everyone who submits a valid entry will be eligible to win one or more prizes. To participate in the Boss Battle, go to MyPies and submit your Compietition Entry, just like a normal Compietition. The Octopies you submit will do “damage” to the boss, which will be calculated after the Compietition finishes. That damage will be your entry into drawings for the prizes. The more damage you do, the higher your chance of winning a prize. If you don’t want to worry about crunching the numbers, we recommend you submit as many Octopies as possible (but note that the limit is 13 Octopies). You can go and get involved right now here!

Damage Calculation
To calculate damage done to the boss, every Octopie will have a “Base Damage” amount. For the majority of Octopies, this will be 3 points of damage. Some Octopies will have higher base damage. For example, certain weapon traits will increase the base damage, and 1-of-1s will have a base damage of 10.

Bonuses & Multipliers
There will then be multipliers applied to the Compietition entry based on a range of factors, with said factors being dependent on what your Compietition entry consists of. Now, we’re not going to reveal every multiplier, meaning you will have to guess what the special bonuses may be. Here are the main multipliers that can be applied to your Compietition Entry.

  • A Full Pie. Submitting 1 Octopie from each of the 9 Base Slices. This earns a 50% bonus to their base damage.
  • The Three Muskapies. Submitting 3 Octopies from the same Slice. This earns a 33% bonus to their base damage.
  • Me, Myself, and Pie. Submitting just 1–2 Octopies in total. This earns a 50% bonus to their base damage.
The bonuses will apply the multiplier to the Base Damage of the relevant Octopies — the multipliers won’t stack; they will be totalled. 1-of-1s won’t count as wild cards and will only work in a multiplier for Slices if it has a trait naming it in that Slice.

To help people take a guess at a couple of other bonuses, these are named Follow The Leader, A Baker’s Dozen, and A Drop in the Bucket. There may even be some surprise bonuses for certain PieOAPs — Good luck trying to get these bonuses!

A Worked Example
Here’s an example of how the bonuses can work:
- A Pieland Collector submits 12 Octopies.

  • There’s one of each Slice, plus 2 more Vampiers and one more Pieson.
  • The base damage is 36 (12 x 3).
  • The bonus “A Full Pie” comes into play, due to having all 9 Octopie Slices, giving a bonus 13.5 damage to the total [(9x3) = 27. 50% of 27 = 13.5 bonus]
  • “The Three Muskapies” bonus also comes into play due to the 3 Vampiers, giving a bonus 3 damage to the total. [(3x3) = 9. 33% of 9 = 3 bonus damage.]
  • The total damage is 52.5. [36 + 13.5 + 3].

The total damage of each entry will be calculated after the Compietition wraps up. We will then share the total damage done and bonuses earned alongside each wallet address. This will be the Boss Battle Leaderboard, showing who did the most damage in the name of Pieland!

Prizes and Rewards
Next, we move on to the prizes. For prizes awarded via drawing, every point of damage done becomes an “entry” into the draw. If you do 3 damage, you’ll have 3 entries. If you do 30 damage, you’ll have 30 entries. The Boss Battle PieOAP prizes will be based on damage done — every eligible entry will get a PieOAP, but there will be three “tiers” to the PieOAPs awarded. Other prizes will be a 1 of 1 Octopie, at least 15 Some-Place Potions, some ETH, and more.

And that’s the summary of how the Boss Battle will work! We’re experimenting with this new Compietition style, and we hope to have a couple of fun surprises included in it. We also appreciate your patience and understanding as we experiment with continued gamification and creative ways to have fun for our holders!
