The Meaning Behind the 12 Lucky Red Envelopes

In early February, Pieland celebrated Lunar New Year. It was the start of the first new moon, and during that time 12 red doughy envelopes were baked up in Pieland to create 12 one-of-a-kind Octopies known as the Doughdiacs. Traditionally, only children receive hongbaos (red envelopes) during the Lunar New Year festivities. But the Piemilia wanted to make sure 12 very lucky Pieple were sent good fortune and blessings from the Octopies, too.

We announced the 1 of 1 Octopies in early February, and introduced the first of the animal-morphing Doughdiacs called the Pieger Octopie. Each month one of the Doughdiacs will be revealed for the remaining 11 minted Red Envelopes. For the lucky Doughdiac holders, be on the lookout to check your MyPies on the first of the month when one of these red envelopes will be revealed.

The Pieger, who is already out in the wild in Pieland.

The 12 Doughdiacs each represent a different animal in the Chinese Zodiac. In order, they are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. In the world of Pieland, the Doughdiacs may look a bit different from the zodiac animals. The Year of the Pieger happens to be third in the zodiac cycle. But given that the mysterious Pieous may have tampered with the Pieland Zodiac, the cycle of the Doughdiacs will be randomized when they are revealed.

Your best bet is to check back at the end of each month as we offer a sneak peek of the next Doughdiac that will be unveiled. Here’s a look at the two-toned, good-natured Piebbet.

The yet to be released Piebbet.

We will let Pieple know on Discord and Twitter what Red Envelope has transformed into the Piebbet is revealed in the first few days of April. We’ll also make sure to display the latest Doughdiacs in our Wikipiedeia to help everyone keep up to date. Those of you lucky enough to have a Red Envelope — Good luck!
