2022 was a rollercoaster year for the web3 space. We can’t ignore that. Fortunately, the Pieland team has always planned to explore multiple pathways to long-term success. This is why in 2023, we’ll be driving a lot of focus to the Pieland Brand.
What this means is a greater focus will be placed on our “web2” efforts. We have tons of exciting plans lined up, some of which you’ve already seen teases of, and some currently under wraps. Of course, this article wouldn’t be much fun if we didn’t dive into more details, so here’s a teaser of what’s coming down the piepline.
Website Overhaul
The current Pieland website, launched in early 2022, focused heavily on our initial mint and web3 ventures. While this was a great starting point and easy to navigate for those who know and understand NFTs, we believe it’s important for our future success to create a new website that shows off the entirety of what the Pieland brand is all about. This updated website will be a great first step into the world of Pieland for any prospective buyers, families, kids, and potential collaborators who want a slice of the action.
Physical Goods
We’ve got a few things in the work here, so let’s get right to it:
- Board Game. The team has been in the laboratory developing a stand-alone, tabletop game. After months of development, we’re now in the playtest phase of the game. We’ll have open playtest sessions with our community very soon!
- Apparel. You can expect to see some of our incredible artwork on display in high-quality clothing pieces. The first rollout will be t-shirts and hats — but you may well be able to get decked out from head to tentacle in Pieland gear by the end of the year.
- Plushies. Our Octopies are incredibly cute, there’s no doubt about it. So now it’s time to bring that cuteness to life, with some high-quality, kid-friendly, incredibly unique Octopie Plushies in 2023.
- Lore and Story Pieces. We’ve already started to kick this piece of the Pieland merch off, with the Pieland Map posters. They were claimable — for free — to holders of the Pieland Map NFTs. These posters were recently delivered to those lucky collectors. We’ll be looking at other unique and interesting ways to deliver more merch based on our lore and story this year.
By focusing on a range of physical offerings, we expect to expand the community more than ever. Keep your eyes out for more details on our development in our Discord — we will certainly be looking to have our community involved in the discussions and direction we take!
New Ways To Engage With Your Pies
Here at Pieland HQ, we’re big believers in the ownership aspect of NFTs. To us, it’s one of the most interesting and important parts of Web3. But if you own something, you should be able to customize it, right? This is why, in 2023, we’ll be launching the first version of our much-anticipated feature, The Kitchen.
First, The Kitchen will allow our collectors to rename their Octopies to whatever they want (keep it PG!). The new name will go alongside the Slice and Serial Number, so you can easily see all this info at once.
Second, you’ll be able to easily select a “cutout” version of your Octopie, which will provide a high-quality downloadable image of the Octopie without the background. This will allow you to easily drop your Octopie in somewhere else — be it a new custom background, your own merchandise, or just for showing off on your social media.
Finally, The Kitchen will allow you to customize the Biography for your Octopies, allowing you to help shape the story and lore of Pieland in a whole new way. Who knows, maybe your Octopie will end up immortalized in the Wikipiedia thanks to your unique and interesting custom biography. Either way, we’re excited to give more customization to our collectors. You can expect this update to come in the first quarter of 2023, so start brainstorming what you’ve got in mind!
New Content Formats
The Lore of the Octopies has been a long-standing fan favorite ingredient of Pieland. This is why we’ve spent time making sure we have mapped out the history, the timeline, and the story of Pieland in more depth than ever. In 2023, we’ll be starting to peel back the layers of this intricately woven story.
This means we’ll also be looking at other ways to show that story. The Wikipiedia is a lot of fun — but we’ll be taking it to a new level. As we progress through the next year, we’ll be exploring both a comic series and a short animation. Both of these will give more insight into the lore of Pieland, and will start with small samples to see which direction makes the most sense to explore further.
Loyalty of the Pies
For our wonderful community members, we plan to explore a fun, engaging, and sustainable loyalty system. The core goal is to reward those who collect, no matter if you are able to check in on what’s happening in the world of Pieland every day or every few weeks. We anticipate this system will be a fun new way to engage with Pieland. However, this is in the very early stages, and there is no clear timeline — but we’ll aim to provide more updates around these plans later this year.
Community Events
Last year, we saw a lot of excitement and energy around our Compietitions. With various types of Compietitions for rewarding community members of all collection types, they were a big success. Of course, in 2023, we’ll have more Compietitions coming out, for your chance to participate and win more great prizes.
We’ll also be looking at a new format for flexing your Pies — with the Pieland Leaderboards. We’re not going to give too many details on what this will look like just yet, but we’re excited about another way for our community to engage and compete with one another.
Additionally, we’ll be continuing some of our fun community pools, such as fantasy football, March Madness, and more. We expect to explore a range of community events, including Poker, games nights, and hanging out with the Pieland crew.
