An in-depth look at what’s been cooking since the Public Sale.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks here at Pieland since our Public Mint began February 10. We currently have less than 25% of Octopie NFTs left to be minted! We are actively monitoring the mint, and are experimenting with a range of marketing efforts to sell out the remaining NFTs. In this post we will go over our marketing plans and what we are cooking up to deliver on Phase 1 of our Roadmap.
Baking With A Friend
One of the recent things we’ve rolled out is the Pieland Referral Program. When you visit our mint page, you can generate a link with a referral code using the green button. When someone mints with that code, regardless if they have minted before, you will receive one entry into our Referral Program Giveaway. There’s over $6,500 USD in prizes, and our referral promo will run until the Public Mint finishes!
We’re excited to reward our community members who tell their friends about Pieland, leading to growth that expands our community organically. Referrals are a bit unusual for an NFT project, but at Pieland we are always game for trying something innovative. We’re keeping an eye on how this goes and look forward to seeing who wins the grand prize from the giveaway!
Marketing The Mint
We are working to get the word out on the Octopie sale. Along with our Referral Program, we are building out promotional efforts with a few marketing partners that we have started in the last couple of days. We will track the effectiveness of these efforts and see what impact that has on the remaining mint count. Bringing new people to the world of Pieland is always an exciting prospect!
Dropping Pies
Last week, we announced an airdrop to our community. For every 10 Octopies you held, you received another Octopie sent directly to your wallet! This was our way of rewarding those community members who held 10 Pies or more. This won’t be the last airdrop from us, and we won’t always communicate airdrops in advance! Of course, we want to always be transparent and fair, but sometimes a surprise airdrop is a great gift, kind of like, a suprise sneak peek at some new concept art…
Building MyPies
Outside of direct efforts to market around our Public Mint — which has led to over 2,500 Octopies Minted even after the first Public Mint day — we’re also getting to work on Phase 1 of our Roadmap! That’s right — we don’t need to wait for our Public Mint to finish to start building out Pieland.
We’re giving you a sneak peek of our MyPies page. This will be a feature that lives on our website, displaying all the Octopies you own in one location. You’ll be able to click on each Octopie NFT in your collection to see a breakdown of their traits and a larger image. It also comes with direct links to find the Octopie on the OpenSea and LooksRare Marketplace. As you can see, lining up all the Octopies like this is a pretty fun way to see them!
Those of you with eagle eyes might notice the numbers look a little different than the unrevealed NFTs numbers. That’s because the numbers on unrevealed NFTs are the Token ID numbers, which go from 0–10,314. When the Slices, or factions, are revealed, every Slice will have its own Slice Number. So you could have a Vampiers #123 and a Doughbot #123. We believe this is a recipe for successfully baking Octopie Slices. They’ll also still have the Token ID numbers on the blockchain, too.
Positive Impact With Pies
Since the beginning, we wanted to make sure we do good and leave a positive impact on the world. One of the first steps towards this is to offset our carbon emissions by planting over 6,500 trees in the name of Pieland! We worked with Trees of the Future, who help farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa grow sustainable crops, and donated enough to cover one tree for every Octopie minted so far (as of last weekend). We will make sure we will repeat this when our Public Mint finishes to make sure we get the rest of the trees planted too!
The donation we’ve made isn’t just putting saplings in the ground. It includes the tools, seeds and training for farmers to build self-sufficiency and regenerate their lands in forest gardens. We spoke to the Trees.org team directly:
We train our farmers through our four-year Forest Garden Training Program. This program trains farmers to restore their land by planting thousands of trees — what we call the “Forest Garden Approach.” Farmers then learn to plant dozens of crops organically, which increases their income by up to 400% and provides them with steady access to nutritious food all year round. This diversity and beneficial relationship between the farmer and the land encourages high survival rates for the trees and long-lasting benefits for the farming family and their land.
This isn’t just creating a small forest in the name of Pieland. It’s having a real tangible impact for the locals in these areas and ensuring we leave a positive mark on the world. And we’re not finished yet.
Growing The Team
To ensure our Pies continue to be baked just right, we’ll need to add more chefs to the bakery. Which is why we’re actively hiring and building our team. We let our community know this in our Discord and we were overwhelmed by the responses. Over 50 people submitted their interest in joining the team! We’ve been processing those responses and getting ready to hire some more people. Of course, this isn’t a process we want to rush, but we’re hoping to be able to introduce some new hires within the next 2 weeks. We won’t stop there though — you can expect our team to continue to expand over the course of 2022 as we grow and build more.
Pie Day
We also want to formally announce that, one way or another, the Octopie NFTs will be revealed on or before the 14th of March. If the Public Mint has not finished, we will reveal on the 14th regardless (but have the option to reveal before that date still). Based on the previous trajectory of minting rates, we do expect to sell out before then, but we wanted to give this hard date so that our community can know what is to come and look forward to the reveal! This does not mean we won’t continue to explore other options as well. However, by doing this, you can all know that no matter what, you’ll be celebrating Pi day with your favorite Octopies on display for all the world to see.
